Sharpless (Madama Butterfly)

Heikki Kilpeläinen began his full-time voice studies at the Sibelius Academy in 1987. His Finnish National Opera debut followed in 1991, in Einojuhani Rautavaara’s opera The House of the Sun. In autumn 1993 he transferred to the International Opera Studio in Zurich and after only four months there was offered a solo contract at the Bremen Opera in Germany. From there he proceeded in 1997 to Bonn, and in 2000 to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. He has guested at many of the leading German opera houses and can also be heard regularly at home in Finland.
