100th anniversary gala

The season begins with a grand gala, the programme for which spans the entire 100-year history of the Savonlinna Opera Festival. Performing at this gala will be leading soloists of the 2012 season, the Savonlinna Opera Festival Orchestra and Choir.

Gala concert: Towards a New Era

Savonlinna Hall at 15.00

Performing at the concert will be the Iloinen lapsikuoro children’s choir, the Juventus Boys’ Choir, the Linnanneidot youth choir, and former members of the SOF children’s and youth choirs.

The soloists have all sung in the choir at some time: Tiia Jaatinen, Karoliina Kallio, Susanna Laukkanen, Liisu Mikkonen, Päivi Niskanen and Mikko Nuopponen.

The programme will consist of scenes with children from Turandot, Carmen, Mefistofele, Daddy’s Girl, The Age of Dreams, The Seven Dog Brothers, The Magic Flute and other operas, along with arias and duets.
