The YL Male Voice Choir and Tapiola Choir
Conductor Pasi Hyökki
Founded in 1883, the YL Male Voice Choir has been a pioneer of Finnish male-choir singing. In addition to unaccompanied repertoire it performs and records works for choir with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors. The Tapiola Choir is an award-winning Finnish children’s choir with an international reputation made up of youngsters aged 8–19. In honour of the 100th anniversary of independent Finland, the two choirs here join together as a mixed super-choir to sing music of Finland’s golden National-Romantic era. One of the items on the programme will be Toivo Kuula’s mammoth The Song of the Sea.
