Summer Time has begun!

The clocks have been synchronised to summer time in Finland, and opera pleasures are
approaching once again. Preparations for the summer are under way not only in the Opera
Festival Office, but also on the Opera Festival’s main stage at Olavinlinna Castle. The castle
has been refurbished during the winter, including walls, casemates, shooting holes and the
Congress Hall. The roof of the tower will also be renovated before the season starts.

Tosca – a much-loved thriller

This summer, the Opera Festival will hear Puccini’s Tosca, whose strong and lyrically beautiful
themes convey powerful drama all the way from the opening notes to the final climax. Tosca
will feature a long-awaited Finnish debut, when Johanna Rusanen sings in the title role (21.7, 28.7).
